[1909] [07/21]: “Minnows Fell From Clouds” [WV]

Posted on June 4, 2026June 6, 2026 by Zero

The Point Pleasant Register (Point Pleasant, W. Va.), July 21st 1909

Minnows Fell From Clouds.

A report comes from Camp Creek, in Mercer county, to the effect that during the hard rainstorm a few days ago good sized minnows fell from the clouds. The minnows were unlike the native species, and the belief is that they had been carried a long distance by currents of air before they were precipitated.

The phenomenon is accounted for by the supposition that these small aqueous animals are caught up in water spouts and delivered to the upper currents of the atmosphere, and finally fall with the rain when they reach the lower air strata.
