More Parties Are On Hunt For Apes

By United Press Leased Wire

KELSO, Wash., July 16. – Although no report has been received from the expeditionary force which Monday went into the hills to hunt “Mountain Devils,” individuals who returned today from trips to the cabin of the five prospectors, partially confirm the story of members of the Smith-Beck party, who claimed to have been bombarded with big rocks hurled into their cabin during the night, supposedly by the “hairy apes.”

The rocks are still inside the cabin, according to these returned investigators, but no footprints of mysterious men or beasts were to be found in the vicinity.

Four new expeditions have outfitted and are on their way to Spirit Lake today. One is composed of local hunters. Two other parties have left for Castle Rock, while Chief of Police George Millar, of Kelso, and county game Warden Chester Leichhardt have taken their families for an outing into the Spirit Lake country and while there will try to find traces of the “Mountain Devils.”
